R&DM Edmondson Ltd (trading as Newtown Engineering Co) are Agriculture, Horticulture, Plant and Fabrication Engineer specialists located in the beautiful Northumberland town of Rothbury.
We are dealers for a large number of companies that specialise in Agricultural machinery, such as McCormick tractors, Orsi, Wessex International and Teagle balers. A full list of our suppliers can be found within the “Agricultural” section of this website.

Newtown Engineering Co, has been in business since 1972, when it was started by Raymond Edmondson in a farm building at Newtown Farm, Rothbury. After a few months it was moved to the Co-op Garage, Backcroft, Rothbury.
In 1974 we obtained our first tractor dealership selling Universal Tractors, we also had a sub-dealership selling David Brown Tractors. We moved into our present premises in 1977. We obtained the Renault Agriculture dealership in 1979. We hold numerous agency’s for all types of machinery.
In 2000, due to the cut-backs in farming, we added other services that we could provide to our customers and started to supply, service and repair garden machinery which has proven very successful. In the past, we also had the Zetor tractors dealership for a few years.
In 2007, the McCormick dealership was added and we continue to be one of their main dealers in the area.
Now, in 2025, as well as the McCormick dealership, we are now also suppliers of Maschio Gaspardo, Gregoire Besson and Orsi agricultural machinery and equipment (as well as other suppliers). We are also stockists for Stiga Mountfield, Draper and Arco, as well as other horticultural suppliers. We are a small company with 4 members of staff supplying a wide range of agricultural and horticultural equipment and products from within a friendly environment, always meeting customers’ needs!
